Pemba Spices Tour

While spices no longer dominate Zanzibar's economy as they once did, there are still numerous spice plantations scattered on the island which make an interesting visit. In this tour you will be smelling and tasting herbs, spices and tropical fruits like papaya, oranges, jackfruit, cassava, cinnamon, black pepper, turmeric, clove and ginger among the others. This is a half day tour through Wete old road to Mtambwe village where you can see variety of spices. Although the spice tour industry is not as developed as it is in Zanzibar, Pemba actually produces the majority of spices exported from Tanzania and 70 % of the world’s clove harvest comes out of Pemba Island, in this case, there is no doubt that Pemba is really a spice island.
