Gorilla Trekking and Chimps

Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in Uganda and Rwanda are popular wildlife experiences that allow visitors to observe these primates in their natural habitats.

Gorilla Trekking: In both Uganda and Rwanda, visitors can participate in gorilla trekking, where they hike through the forests in search of gorilla families. The trek can be physically demanding, but the chance to observe gorillas up close and in their natural habitat is a truly unforgettable experience. In Uganda, gorillas can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, while in Rwanda, they can be found in Volcanoes National Park. Visitors are required to purchase a permit and follow strict guidelines, such as maintaining a distance of at least 7 meters from the gorillas and not making loud noises or sudden movements.

Chimpanzee Trekking: Chimpanzee trekking is also available in both Uganda and Rwanda, offering the opportunity to observe these primates in their natural habitats. In Uganda, chimpanzee trekking can be done in Kibale National Park, while in Rwanda, it can be done in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Like gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking can be physically demanding and requires the purchase of a permit. Visitors are also required to follow guidelines, such as maintaining a distance of at least 7 meters from the chimpanzees and not making loud noises or sudden movements.
