From the Londorossi Park Gate located on the western side of Kilimanjaro where we pick up our game ranger who will accompany us, as we might encounter elephants and buffaloes during our trek. We drive to the trailhead at Lemosho Glades and start our trek through the rain forest. In places, the vegetation is so untouched that it grows right across the narrow track. The flora and fauna are richer here than on the other more popular routes through the rain forest. Our trek today will be along a little used track known as Chamber's Route. In about 3-4 hours, we reach our camp in the rain forest at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree).

we start the climb cross the remaining rain forest towards the giant moorland zone. Today is a full day trek with an altitude gain of 2,000 ft. A great lunch stop is One, a beautiful valley just outside the Shira Crater at around 10,000 ft. After lunch, we cross into the Shira Caldera, a high altitude desert plateau that is rarely visited. Shira is the third of Kilimanjaro volcanic cones, and is filled with lava flow from Kibo Peak. The crater rim has been decimated by weather and volcanic action. Today you will get your first close views of Kibo - the dramatic summit of Kilimanjaro.

Your journey to Uhuru Peak unfolds like a magical tapestry of landscapes. Starting low, you'll wander through vibrant rainforests, alive with bird songs and playful Colobus monkeys. These encounters serve as a beautiful reminder of our deep connection to nature, a bond often overlooked in our busy lives.
Pressing on towards Uhuru Peak, you'll enter a world of profound silence, broken only by your footsteps and heartbeat. The air thins, the cold nips at you, and the vastness of it all can feel a bit overwhelming. Yet with each step upward, you edge closer to the lofty summit where sky and earth, physical and spiritual, blend into one.

Serengeti National Park
Nestled in the heart of Africa, where the sun warmly embraces the vast savannah and the symphony of wildlife serenades the air, you'll find Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Meandering along the dusty trails, my senses danced to the enchanting melodies of this captivating land. From the regal lions to the graceful giraffes, each creature seemed to whisper tales of their existence.
Serengeti isn't just a spot on the map; it's a soul-stirring encounter. The landscape is a breathtaking canvas painted by Mother Nature herself - golden grasslands stretching endlessly, adorned with acacia trees casting their playful shadows. In the backdrop, the iconic baobab trees stand tall against the fiery sky, crafting a timeless vista straight out of reverie.
A pivotal moment at Serengeti National Park is beholding the Great Migration, a spectacular marvel where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles meander across the plains in search of new pastures. Witnessing this grand procession humbles and invigorates, underscoring nature's incredible power and resilience.
As the sun dipped low, cloaking the sky in shades of warmth, I found myself amidst another migration - that of the predators. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs emerged from their daytime rest, their eyes gleaming in the dusky light as they embarked on their nocturnal quest. It was a spine-tingling sight, a glimpse into the raw dynamics of life.
For a deeper immersion, a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti is a must-do. Drifting silently as the sun kisses the horizon, the landscape below blossoms in a kaleidoscope of hues and textures. From serene antelopes grazing to majestic elephants meandering, the aerial view unveils a fresh perspective on the beauty and diversity of this remarkable ecosystem.
The optimal time to explore Serengeti National Park is during the dry season, from late June to September, when wildlife congregates around water sources, offering ample opportunities for sightings. With mild weather and clear skies, the chances of witnessing elusive creatures are abundant.
Regardless of when you visit, one thing remains certain - the Serengeti etches an unforgettable mark on your soul. It's a realm of unbridled beauty, untamed wilderness, and primal vigor that resonates deep within. As I bid adieu to this enchanting land, a piece of my heart remained intertwined with the essence of the Serengeti, a bond everlasting.

Set at the base of Mount Meru with a mix of different cultures and landscapes, Arusha in Tanzania is a hidden treasure waiting to be explored. The moment you arrive in this lively city, you're welcomed by friendly smiles and the rich scents of Swahili spices in the air.
Known as the entrance to some of Tanzania's most famous national parks like the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha itself is a blend of Maasai, Arab, and Indian influences that create a unique tapestry of traditions and flavors.
One of the main attractions of Arusha is its close proximity to incredible wildlife experiences. Take a safari and witness the beauty of the African savannah where you can see lions, elephants, and giraffes in their natural habitats. The Arusha National Park showcases diverse landscapes from rainforests to open grasslands, giving a glimpse of Tanzania's biodiversity.
For the adventurous spirits, a hike up Mount Meru offers stunning views and a chance to connect with nature. The trek is also a good warm-up for those who want to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro, standing tall in the distance, inviting daring hikers to push their boundaries.
As the sun sets, the Maasai market becomes a vibrant hub of colors and sounds. Here, you can bargain for local crafts and jewelry while chatting with Maasai women showcasing their handiwork.
Arusha offers a variety of culinary experiences. Taste traditional Tanzanian dishes like grilled meat, maize porridge, and spiced rice at local spots, or enjoy flavorful curries and biryanis at longstanding Indian restaurants.
The ideal time to visit Arusha is during the dry season from June to September when the weather is pleasant and wildlife gathers around water sources for easy viewing. The wet season from March to May brings lush greenery and fewer tourists, but some roads may be affected by rain.
In Arusha, time seems to slow down, giving you the chance to cherish each moment and admire the beauty of the natural world around you. Whether you're gazing at the snow-capped Kilimanjaro, observing a group of lions on the prowl, or simply taking in the lively sights and sounds of the city, Arusha offers an experience that will stay with you long after you've departed its dusty roads.
